Biography

Villupuram Chinnaiah Ganesan, popularly known as Sivaji Ganesan, was an iconic Indian actor and a towering figure in Tamil cinema. He earned the name "Sivaji" after his remarkable portrayal of the Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji in a stage play. Making his film debut with the landmark movie Parasakthi (1952), he went on to act in more than 300 films across a career spanning nearly five decades.

Known for his extraordinary dialogue delivery, emotional depth, and versatility, Sivaji Ganesan portrayed a wide range of characters including kings, freedom fighters, lawyers, and ordinary citizens. His performances set new standards for acting in Indian cinema and inspired generations of actors. He remains one of the most respected and influential figures in the history of Tamil cinema.
